Juan Carlos Ondategui 1

He is Professor of the Department of optics and optometry of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. Associate Professor at the school of optics and optometry of Terrassa. Diploma in optics from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (1990). It also has Master's in advanced optometry and Vision Sciences by the University of Valencia (2001), master's degree in public health from the University Pompeu Fabra (2006-2008) and is a student of doctoral program in engineering optics.

The academic activity has been related to various subjects within the optometry and contact lenses Clinic: Binocular Vision and vision therapy, optometry and contact lens clinic, special techniques of evaluation of Visual function, optometry, geriatric ySalud public and epidemiology.

It is responsible for the unit of attention primary of the University Vision Centre - CUV (UPC), Member of the CUV unit of contact lenses, special testing of the CUV unit and Member unit of special populations and geriatric optometry of the CUV.

 

 

Overview presentation: "Control of the progression of glaucomatosas accidentals"

Currently defined glaucoma when there is a progression in the deterioration of physiological structures or a progressive loss in Visual functions of the patient. The classical areas of exploration in glaucoma focuses on the valuation of the intraocular pressure (IOP), ring neuroretiniano (AN) valuation, valuation of the nerve fiber layer and estimation of the visual field. The PIO is the main risk factor for glaucoma and for monitoring must take into account not only the corneal thickness but variations in corneal biomechanics.

The AN assessment allows to detect stress or suffering of the structures, but has important limitations in the monitoring on the basis of each observer. The use of computerized systems that allow to measure and assess different strategies the AN display information very detailed physiological structures and its variation in time.

The evaluation of the function of the visual field sensitivity requires algorithms of progression report if detected in time changes are significant progression or are the result of errors in the systematic measurement of this visual function.
